About this place
Occupying a ground-floor spot near Tsukishima Monja Street, BAR96 MOON features an open storefront that lets you see straight inside, making it an approachable stop during a neighborhood stroll or as a second spot after dinner. An impressive wall of bottles meets your eye, with shelves stocked full of whiskies from across the globe.
The back bar spans Japanese whisky staples and limited cask bottlings like Hakushu, Hibiki, and Ichiro's Malt, alongside Scotch from Ardbeg, Talisker, and The Macallan, as well as American whiskey. Guests can consult the staff about flavor preferences or serving styles, making it easy to venture into unfamiliar labels without hesitation.
Beyond whisky, the shelves hold distinctive bottles such as vegetable liqueurs from Yoichi Liqueur Factory, Scarlet Caffe Amaro, and fruit liqueurs. Bar snacks like stone-shaped chocolates, brown sugar broad beans, and stewed pork cartilage are on hand to nibble alongside drinks. In a unique arrangement, Yamagata cuisine can also be ordered for delivery from the nearby Yamagatayama Tsukishima branch until 22:00.
Fitted with both counter seating and tables, the interior is finished in subdued tones. Depending on the day of the week, the bar remains open late into the night or until the following morning. It functions comfortably whether you want a quiet post-dinner drink to unwind or a relaxed session exploring the bottle collection.
